قال باحثون انه عند لف الأطفال حديثي الولادة فانه يجب التأكد من ترك الغطاء فضفاضاً بشكل كاف للسماح بحركة الأرجل والورك.
وحذر الباحثون من انه عند تغطية الاطفال ولف الغطاء بشدة فانه قد يتسبب بنمو مفاصل الورك بشكل غير طبيعي مما يسبب خلع في كرة عظمة الفخذ من تجويفها والذي قد يؤدي للعرج، اختلاف في اطوال الاطراف والألم والتهاب المفاصل.
واوضح الباحثون ان هذه الممارسة قد تضع حديثي الولادة بخطر كبير للاصابة بالخلع الوركي وبالمقابل يجب ان يتم لف ذراع وجذع الطفل بشكل مريح بينما يتم لف الارجل بشكل فضفاض والتأكد من ان الارجل تستطيع الانحناء للاعلى والاسفل.
كما اظهرت الدراسة انه باجبار الورك والركبة للانبساط بعد الولادة مباشرة يزيد من التوتر والشد في عضلات الورك ويزيد من احتمال ارتخاء الاربطة وعدم استقرار عظمة الفخذ في تجويف الورك.
